| Sea Commander floats were designed by the
original owner Gordon Whitney, an airframe technician in the R.C.A.F. who after retiring from the forces worked on many interesting projects. These projects included maintenance on CF101 Voodoos for Bristol Aerospace, designing and constructing components for ultra-light aircraft and assisting and advising in the construction of homebuilt composite aircraft. He finally turned his attention to designing and constructing the products for Sea Commander.
Ryan Holm, from Powell River, British Columbia is excited about being able to carry on with the tradition of producing these excellent products. Ryan has had a love of airplanes since he was a young boy, which continues on with his collection of R/C airplanes. Over the last 20 years he has built everything from gliders to giant scale gas monsters such as his 1/3 scale Super Cub. Ryan has a knack for attention to detail and strives for excellence in all of his projects, which include woodworking, metal fabrication, mechanics, and of course model airplanes. After 20 years he is leaving the family business in the commercial fishing industry. Over this time he has honed his skills and knowledge in fiberglassing and woodworking with the remodeling of their first boat and the construction and maintenance of a second larger fiberglass boat. His skills have been put to use and tested in the maintenance and upkeep of these vessels. Ryan feels that if you're going to do something, do it right the first time or don't do it at all. |
