Sea Commander Floats

The EDO profile of this line of fiberglass sport floats incorporates the properties of a Boston whaler-type hull. The bottom design forms two concave "tunnels" running from the bow, with a generous keel separating the tunnels transitioning to a 12 degree "V" at the step. The unique design forms a cushion effect in choppy water while also forming an effective spray-rail on the outboard edges. Our hydrodynamic tests showed that this float rides best over disturbed water surfaces and tracks amazingly well.

The best news is the top of the float is a flat surface! Backed up by a built-in composite material running underneath the top surface where you can apply any type of mounting system you desire.

Each #4 stainless screw you incorporate has the pulling power of 100 pounds. You can use any landing gear system you have on hand as this float mounts to the airplane as easy as the wooden and foam sport float offerings on the market. Use Sea Commander’s mounting systems or fabricate your own system out of our material.

We then added our new built-in ballast compartment in the very tips of each float. This minimizes the weight you might have to use to balance the airplane. For added strength, we gently radius the sides duplicating the full scale Edo design.
